Quiz Night 2017
The first ever quiz organised by the Banstead Rotary Club was held in the St Mark’s Church Hall on Saturday, 20th May 2017.
A total of 12 teams, comprising 94 individuals, participated in the quiz this year. A most enjoyable evening was had by all! The hall was filled to capacity and the competition was fierce, with several teams vying for first place throughout the evening. Quiz Master David Riley of Nonsuch Rotary commented “ I have just done a little score analysis. The lowest team scored 72.5% and the highest 91.6% (clever clogs!)The average score was 79.8% one of the highest I have recorded. I can see I shall have to make the questions a little harder next time.Sara & I both enjoyed ourselves. What a well behaved bunch you are, or were you on your best behaviour for visitors?”The winning team was “Magic Roundabout” and they were rewarded with some liquid refreshments to be enjoyed at home! The teams in joint second place were "Blur"and "Wishful Thinking". The raffle was also most generously supported by all who attended and the final result enabled Banstead Rotary to raise £1227 for Winston’s Wish, the President’s Charity 2016-7 this year, which helps bereaved children. More than 100 children are bereaved of a parent every single day in the UK.
This is the most fundamental loss a child will ever face. Winston’s Wish believes in a society in which every child can get the help they need when someone close to them dies. With the right support at the right time, a child can face the future with confidence and hope. Therefore , all funds generated by the quiz will be greatly appreciated. Marielle Birks, the Charity’s Community Fundraiser also attended and thanked everyone for their kind generosity. "We would like to thank everyone who supported the event and made it such a splendid occasion," said Banstead Rotary President, Jane Illingworth.
