The Beacon School

One of the Banstead Rotary Club's biggest success stories is the Interact Club, an integral part of Beacon School Council, led by Spanish teacher Connor Diffley. The club numbers 12 teens who are active in school, as well as being socially conscientious young people, and are willing to serve their local and world community. Sponsored by the Banstead Rotary Club, the Interact Club is part of Rotary International.

This year's Interact projects have been varied. The club helped to plant Crocuses to raise polio awareness in The Orchard, they took part in the Rotary Christmas Collections and held a Christmas Jumper Day which raised £430 with proceeds supporting their international project towards Purple4Polio and UK charity Beat Eating Disorders.

The Interact Club President is dedicated to the club's mission of "service above self." She ran a successful Summer Fair and raised over £517 for Beat Eating Disorders and the Imagination Station (school library).

Past Presidents Ian, Jane and Rotary Club member Gillian attended the Beacon School Prize Giving on 17th July 2019 where the Rotary Awards for Service to the Community were presented. Ian congratulated the pupils on their service.

In Autumn 20190 we will continue with exciting new and interesting programmes.
