"Spain beyond the Costas" a talk by Richard Clark

After dinner on Tuesday 21st at Cuddington GC, Banstead Rotary member Richard Clark gave a varied and fascinating talk entitled 'Spain Beyond the Costas'. Richard has recently returned from his second home on the Costa del Sol where he spends about 4 months a year. He is passionate about Spain, its history, culture and language. His talk took the audience on a virtual journey from the North to South of the peninsula starting in Cantabria and Asturias, making its way through Old Castile to Andalucia in the South. Along the way, Richard dipped into a range of topics covering the varying geography, key historical events that have shaped the Spain of today, the languages of Spain, its rich cuisine and its arts. There were plenty of questions and, judging by the feedback, it was a well-received talk and everyone took away something new.
