Banstead Rotary Village Fair 1st July '23
The Banstead Village on 1 July was yet another success this year with 33
stall holders representing a wide variety of local charities and
organisations.
The Orchard was colourfully set out with tombolas, raffles, bric-a-brac,
cakes, lucky dips, competitions, and many tables giving information to the
members of the public.
The weather was good after early morning rain, and, the sun came out for
another fantastic Banstead Rotary Village Fair. Hundreds of visitors helped
to make it a highly enjoyable event and raise more money for charity.
The event was opened by the Mayor of Reigate and Banstead Councillor Eddie
Humphries. President Jane Illingworth welcomed him, and Fair organiser Roger
de la Perrelle welcomed the public and the stall holders.
The importance of the event is in raising the profile of local groups and
charities. The Rotary Club focuses on the organisation of the event as a key
priority each year.
There was live music throughout the day from the
excellent Old Gits in the morning and Gavin’s Band in the afternoon, a trio
performing 60s and 70s music and their energetic performance was hugely
enjoyable.
Banstead Show Choir sprang to fame in the last few years with performances
at many local events and venues. Their singing of several songs from
Broadway and West End Musicals certainly pleased the crowds in The Orchard.
Banstead Rotary would like to thank everyone who regularly makes the Village
Fair possible, the members, friends and volunteers who organise the event,
the organisations and groups who support and donate to the event
preparation, the stakeholders who are such an integral part of the day and
the many visitors who come year after year.
We look forward to seeing you on 6th July 2024!
