Charity Walk 2022

On Sunday 8th May the Banstead Rotary Club hosted its annual Charity Walk which saw 100 walkers take on the 8.5-mile challenge!

The day started at the top of Epsom Downs at 6.45am, with the erection of the marquee and ended when the last sponsored walkers returned at 2.45pm, closely followed by the sweepers. Rotarians, together with friends and relatives who volunteered their services, were praised by walkers for a smooth operation with clear guidance for all. The marshals, some from Croydon South Rotary Club, and the checkpoint refreshment station staff were all cheerful and ensured that the walkers had a safe route around the Downs and woodlands.

With the sun shining down, the walkers had a wonderful day and managed to raise an amazing £7,800 and counting! These funds will be going to amazing charities, like Crossroad Surrey, Dyscover, Jigsaw and TSA to name but a few. Thank you to all that took part and walked or those that donated to these important charities.

Suzanne Rouse, Chair of the Walk Committee said “After two years of not being able to run the event it was great to see so many walkers raising much needed funds for their charities. The Walk Committee have been working for months to make the day a success. The Rotary Club of Banstead can't raise these vital funds without support from volunteers and we want to say an a big thank you for supporting the event! “.

If you want to be a part of this event next year on Sunday 7 May 2023, details will be available on the website: www.bansteadrotary.com
