A weekend visit from our twin Club Louviers Le Neubourg

The Rotary Club of Banstead is twinned with Louviers Le Neubourg. typically

we visit them one year and the next year they visit us

Over the weekend of 16-18 June 2023, 9 Louviers Le Neubourg Rotarians and

partners travelled to Surrey to meet with their Rotarian friends from their

twin club of Banstead. The clubs have been twinned for over 50 years and it

was the chance to renew old friendships and for new members to make new

ones!

Everyone met up at Cuddington Golf Club for home made shortbread and tea/

coffee. It was obvious from the start that food would play a big part in the

weekend! The Louviers club's President Stephane Sauvan lead the French group

and Rotarians Roger de la Perrelle and David Martin had organised the

weekend’s hospitality which began that same evening at Rotarian hosts homes

which celebrated the return to UK visits following the end of covid.

We had a fascinating visit next day to Whitchurch Silk Mill by the Age

Concern Banstead coach. We also had lunch there too. This was followed by a

guided tour of the Bombay Sapphire at Laverstoke Mill , and stroll around

the area. We finished with a wonderful cocktail master class!

After the drive home through Hampshire and Surrey we relaxed and then all

had a celebratory dinner with Rotary host families and friends at The Grumpy

Mole, Tadworth including speeches and toasts made by Presidents Jane &

Stéphane.

So after many miles and meals we found ourselves back for Sunday lunch at

Cuddington Golf Club on our final day to discuss joint memories and future

projects . We will make our return trip to Louviers Le Neubourg in 2024!
