Bronze Age Britain Meets The Normans At Rochester Cathedral - A Talk by Chris Forkhan

On 29 April, 24 members of Banstead & Sutton Nonsuch Rotary met at our Corporate Rotary Partner’s venue Hallmark Banstead Manor Luxury Care Home.

The event was for charity on behalf of Crossroads Care Surrey and Rotary donated £120 to the “ I’m a director, get me out of here!” fundraiser being held on 9 May.

The evening began with a very original and well illustrated talk by Chris Forkhan titled “ Bronze Age Britain Meets The Normans At Rochester Cathedral”.

The talk was about England’s historic black oaks, our hardest of hard woods. It was discovered in 2012 but dates back to 3500BCE. It was turned into a stunning table for the nation and now resides at Ely Cathedral. Black oak is regarded as the holy grail for wood crafsmen.
